The skiing areas Hochfügen and Skioptimal Hochzillertal-Kaltenbach were connected several years ago by a lift-link, creating the largest skiing area of the Zillertal valley. The Hochfügen ski region, accessibile from Kaltenbach (558 m s.l.m.) as well as from the hotel village of Hochfügen at 1,500 m a.s.l., is one of the 10 most snow sure skiing areas in the alpine area - a real winter hot spot! Furthermore it is known as one of Europe's best freeriding areas thanks to its high-alpine location, the unspoilt slopes and the fast access.
The Hochfügen ski region offers does not only offer perfect conditions for ambitious skiers as well as for those who simply love the pleasure of skiing, but also easy slopes with a gradient under 25%. In the last years new lift facilities were added: the heated 8-seated Mizunbahn, the Hirschbichl lift and the VIP gondola, a luxury liner among the gondolas, established by a cooperation of Leitner ropeways and BMW Individual. Consequently, a total of 39 lift facilities and 88 km of well-groomed slopes are waiting for you. Children, however, can look forward to the "Zwergerl Club", a kindergarten at the Hochzillertal mountain station.
Really popular are nighttime skiing, the huge area for beginners as well as the Betterpark Hochzillertal with natural halfpipe, Chill Out Area and own lift facility. Furthermore there are events such as Snowlicious® and the ski show "Fire meets Snow", as well as highlights including Cat-Skiing (skiing in the early morning hours with ascent to the summit in a snow cat) and a Pistenbully Tour. The Snow Card Tyrol (more than 90 skiing areas in Tyrol) and the Zillertal Super Ski Pass (4 ski regions in the Zillertal valley, 535 km of slopes, 180 lift facilities) are valid here.
