Tyrol, the Country of the Mountains, this is an apt description of this area in western Austria! Find out more about its valleys and places.

The districts North and East Tyrol are located in Austria. From a geographical point of view, North Tyrol and East Tyrol are not directly connected.

The Drau river runs through the distinctively smaller East Tyrol. The Hohe Tauern mountains do not only define the northern border of the district, but also characterise the scenery. North Tyrol is traversed by the Inn river, which also runs through Innsbruck and is dominated by mountain massifs like the Oetztal Alps and the Silvretta mountain range.
