The majestic Kufstein Fortress, which can be visited, dominates on a hilltop the small town on the Inn river

Altitude: 503 m a.s.l.

Known as the "Pearl of Tyrol", the town of Kufstein features about 17,000 inhabitants. This locality has already been celebrated in a song of 1947, which praises Kufstein to be a calm place located along the Inn river. And that's what Kufstein is still like today...

High above the town rises the eponympous fortress. The panorama funicular takes you on the castle hill, where the museum of local history is also located. Of particular interest are the exhibited ice-age arrowheads, which make Kufstein the presumably oldest inhabited area of Tyrol. Furthermore, in the Kufstein Fortress you can see the Heroes' Organ, the largest outdoor organ worldwide. In the town itself many events are held in the course of the year, such as the Operetta Summer, the Wine Festival, the Magic Christmas on the Fortress, and the Festival of 1,000 Lights.

The Wilder Kaiser Nature Reserve, however, offers relaxation in the heart of unspoilt nature. The Kaiser Lift Kufstein takes you within 20 minutes to the Brentenjoch saddle - this is where the Widauer fixed-rope route starts, one of the easiest and shortest routes in the Kaiser Mountains. But you can also climb down in the town: The Kufstein Climbing Gym features an area of 300 sqm, with 40 sqm for boulder. In winter, Kufstein is connected to the SkiWorld Wilder Kaiser - Brixental.
