Starkenberg Castle, built in the 14th century by the Knights of Starkenberg, still rises in Tarrenz, and offers a brewery and a special world of experience today. The "Starkenberger", a beer brewed according to the Bavarian purity law from 1516, is produced here. It is the most-awarded beer of Austria, rewarded with 40 gold medals of the "Monde-Selection", whereas the Starkenberg Brewery itself was elected the "Most popular Tyrolean brewery 2020".
Here you can immerse into the Starkenberg Beer Adventure World called Starkenberg Beer Myth: All manner of interesting things about the long art of brewing tradition, which started already in 1810 here, are shown on 4,000 sqm. The 700 metres long round tour leads through 18 rooms, including the Panorama Room with a gorgeous view on the Gurgltal, the medieval arches, the brewhouse with the copper kettles, the ice cellar from the 16th century, and the modern brewery.
In former years, also a Beer Bath was part of the Beer Adventure World. Today, you can visit this special place by yourself or in a guided tour which is offered for groups of 15 and more persons. Afterwards, every adult may taste the delicious beers of Starkenberg Castle. During the warm months, also the Schloss Stuben opens, the cosy castle tavern with its sun terrace.
