Kelchsau

Kelchsau in the Kitzbühel Alps, a paradise for those who seek relaxation, is a component locality of Hopfgarten im Brixental

Altitude: 820 m a.s.l.

The tiny holiday resort Kelchsau is located in the area of Mt. Hohe Salve. This 1,829 m high mountain is not only the local mountain of the surrounding villages, but also a popular destination for hikers far beyond borders. Did you know, that this is a place where you can also get married? Surrounded by meadows covered with flowers and grazing cows you can marry in the Salven Chapel at 1,829 m a.s.l., one of the highest located sacred buildings of Austria.

In summer, hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers will feel at ease "in the Kelchsau". Worth visiting is the Niederkaser Dairy in the Langer Grund. The eponymous mountain hut, the Niederkaser Alm, has been managed for centuries. From the end of May to the end of September, the cows spend their summer at this alpine pasture, and in this period also the rest point is open. Here, in the middle of the Kitzbühel Alps, you can taste mountain cheese, fresh cheese, yoghurt and butter.

Those who love ski touring and skiing, seeking calm and relaxation, are at the right place. Kelchsau offers a small skiing area featuring 16 km of ski slopes as well as four lift facilities, a real treasure which is directly connected to the mighty SkiWorld Wilder Kaiser - Brixental with almost 300 km of slopes. Furthermore, a 6 km long cross-country ski track shows you the beauty of the landscape.
