The skiing area on the Wannenjoch and the Rohnenspitze is located at the entrance of the Tannheimer Valley near the German border.
In winter the Wannenjoch mountain (1,907 m a.s.l.) in Schattwald and Mt. Rohnenspitze (1,990 m a.s.l.) in Zöblen turn into a small winter paradise with 15 km of fantastic slopes. Both mountains are located in the Allgäu Alps. Furthermore, at the border of the village of Zöblen the slope "Pumucklhang" is located, an exercise area for kids with ski carousel and ski course.
For skiers and snowboarders all levels of difficulty are available, from easy slopes for beginners up to two FIS-homologated race tracks (slalom and giant slalom) on Mt. Rohnenspitze. These race tracks appreciate also national teams - the women's teams of Switzerland and Japan use the Schattwald-Zöblen skiing area for their training. Also the "8er-Runde" is popular, a ski circuit for skiers and snowboarders on the northern slopes of Zöblen and Schattwald.
A bit of variety gives a (with the guest card) free ski and hiking bus which takes you to the other four skiing areas of the Tannheimer Valley and to the villages of Reutte, Vils and Füssen. The Snow Card Tyrol (more than 90 skiing areas in Tyrol), the Tyrol Regio Card (reductions for leisure time facilities in Tyrol), the Allgäu Glacier Card (Allgäu and Tyrol with the Kaunertal and Pitztal Glaciers), the Allgäu Tyrol Ski Card (19 skiing areas in Tyrol and the Allgäu) and the Super Snow Card (8 skiing areas in Tyrol, the Allgäu and the Kleinwalsertal valley) are valid in this skiing area.
