In winter, the 1,907 m high Wannenjoch, the local mountain of Schattwald, and Mt. Rohnenspitze above Zöblen turn into a small winter paradise with 15 km of fantastic slopes. Both mountains are located in the Allgäu Alps. A highlight is the "8er-Runde" tour on skis, in the form of the so-called "lying eight", located on the norhern slopes of Zöblen and Schattwald.
For skiers and snowboarders all levels of difficulty are available in the Schattwald-Zöblen Skiing Area, from easy slopes for beginners up to two FIS-homologated race tracks (slalom and giant slalom) on Mt. Rohnenspitze. These race tracks appreciate also national teams for their training.
Furthermore, at the border of the village of Zöblen the Pumuckl Slope is located, an exercise area for kids with ski carousel and ski course. Anyone of the kids who manages to do the CRAZY8 tour in one in one go, will be awarded the certificate of excellence "CRAZY8 - for kids"...
