The Rofan Skiing Area above Maurach am Achensee is one of the three skiing areas around the largest lake of Tyrol. Within only five minutes, the Rofan Cable Car takes you from the village centre on the Rofan, a mountain chain also known as Brandenberg Alps, more precisely to the mountain station at 1,848 m a.s.l. Here, the view opens on the eastern shore of Lake Achensee and on the western shore with the majestic Karwendel Mountains towering above it. From beginners to skilled skiers - the Rofan Skiing Area offers anything your heart desires on its 11 km of slopes.
Most of them are medium difficult. The most difficult one is the Rofan Valley Run on the sunny slope of the mountain massif, the easiest slope - besides the Wasserboden beginners area - is called Heimgruben. While the kids are cared for in the kids' land of BOBO, the cute penguin of the Achensee Ski School, adults can choose between three cosy ski huts to stop for Tyrolean delicacies: the Rofan Mountain Restaurant, the Erfurter Ski Hut and the Almstüberl Mountain Hut.
If you prefer ski touring, there are also a large number of ski tours, which start from the mountain station, where also a beautiful winter hiking path is located. Nearby, there is the SkyGlider AirRofan, a special flight adventure for unforgettable moments all year round. Also other fliers can be seen in winter: The Rofan is known to be a hang-gliding and paragliding paradise.
