As a popular hiking area in summer, Hochkössen transforms into a charming skiing area in winter, which received the quality seal for ski runs awarded by the State of Tyrol. It can be found on the northern side of Mt. Unterberghorn, a massiv in the Kaiser Mountains and the local mountain of Kössen. The view extends to Lake Chiemsee in Bavaria and is breathtaking the whole year round.
11 lift facilities - among them three double chairlifts and the 6-EUB Hochkössen cable car - take you right into the skiing area. New in the winter season 2019/2020 is a magic carpet. The 22 km of well-groomed ski slopes are ideal for skiers and snowboarders likewise. Another advantage are the moderate dimensions of the Hochkössen skiing area, as well as its location, above all for those coming to the holiday area from Bavaria.
At the valley station there is the Kössen Ski School, which has got special offers for kids. At Sunny’s beginners’ terrain, kids can explore three magic carpets, a carousel and the “Snow V” which helpes make the first steps on the snow. Popular are also the slalom and giant slalom slopes, and afterwards the Bärenhütte and the Gipfelhaus ski huts invite to stop and relax. The Snow Card Tyrol (more than 90 skiing areas in Tyrol) is valid in the Hochkössen skiing area.
In order to protect the health of guests and the local population, the winter season 2019/20 will be closed earlier this year, on 16 March 2020. This is a preventive measure against the further spread of the COVID-19 disease.
