Glungezer skiing area - Innsbruck

One of the longest ski slopes of Tyrol and cosy refuges can be enjoyed in the Glungezer skiing area in Tulfes near Innsbruck.

The Glungezer, a 2,677 m high peak in the Tux Alps, is located only 12 km away from Innsbruck. The Glungezerbahn cable car takes you from the village of Tulfes (992 m a.s.l.) into the skiing area with its 23 km of well groomed ski slopes in sunny location and a great view on the Inntal valley and the Nordkette mountain chain. Overall, there are seven available lift facilities, among them also the new cable car taking you to the Halsmarter intermediate station.

The Glungezer skiing area convinces with its naturalness and one of the longest slopes throughout Tyrol (15 km). Snowboarder, however, can look forward to the Jib-Park Glungezer - its elements are being reshaped again and again during the winter season. Something special in the skiing area is the "Klumpern" on the ski exercise slope, using a traditional wooden sled with one runner only. It is called "Rennböckl" in Tyrolean dialect. A further highlight, reachable with touring skis or snowshoes, is the Glungezer Igloo village at 2,600 m a.s.l. with 10 igloos with the possibility of overnight accomodation and an unforgettable view on 500 surrounding peaks.

New in the winter season 2019/2020, however, is the snowmaking equipment for snow guarantee from December to Easter. The Snow Card Tyrol (more than 90 skiing areas in Tyrol), the Freizeitticket Tyrol (32 skiing areas and other leisure time facilities in Tyrol) and the SKI plus CITY Pass (13 skiing areas around Innsbruck and the Stubaital valley, formerly known as Olympia SkiWorld Innsbruck) are valid in the Glungezer skiing area.
