Berwang-Bichlbach Ski Arena - Zugspitz Arena

Berwang in the eponymous valley is a picturesque mountain village with a small but excellent skiing area of manageable size

At an altitude of 1,336 m a.s.l., high above the villages of Berwang, Bichlbach, Heiterwang and Rinnen, there is the Berwang-Bichlbach Ski Arena with its wonderful deep powder snow slopes. It is easily accessible: The valley station of the Almkopf Cable Car in Bichlbach is located along the Fernpass State Road. Also the train stops here. Furthermore you can find the SunnAlmBahn and the Egghof Sun Jet in Berwang, and a small ski lift in Rinnen. In 2024, the construction works of the 2nd section of the Obere Karbahn Cable Car have begun, so that in the winter season 2025/26 a modern 10-seater cable car up to the Obere Kar will be added to the offer.

The 36 km of slopes - most of them are considered easy - are particularly popular with families and belong to the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena Ski Region. Specially liked in the Berwang-Bichlbach Ski Arena is nighttime skiing at the Egghof Sun Jet and tobogganing under a starry night sky on the Berwang toboggan run. At the Thanellerkaft Lift, however, there's the Obstacle Park for the boarders, and near the valley station the new magic carpet for kids - if you need a helping hand with the first steps on skis, the multiple award winning Berwang Ski School is there for you.

The modernization of existing lift facilities, the extension of the artificial snowmaking system and a mountain restaurant near the new intermediate station of the Obere Karbahn are planned for the coming years. If you would like to enjoy the winter off the slopes, the surroundings offer several cross-country ski tracks, an ice-skating ground and winter walking trails amidst the magnificient natural setting of the Berwang Valley. A cross-country ski track and a hiking path start directly at the valley station of the Almkopf Cable Car, so that everyone can choose their favourite activity.
