Mountopolis - that's how the winter sports fun in Mayrhofen is called. The Bergbahnen Mayrhofen lift facilities with the Ahornbahn, the largest gondola throughout Austria, start on the edge of Mayrhofen and take you onto 142 km of fabulous slopes and 8.5 km of ski routes. They spread across two mountains as well as across the Rastkogel elevation and the Eggalm pasture. Mt. Penken is directly accessible with the Penken Cable Car from Mayrhofen, with the Horberg Cable Car from the neighbouring Schwendau, and with the Möslbahn on the Hochschwendberg hill.
The Leisure Mountain Ahorn is perfect for carving - its wide slopes and the FunRide with FamilyPark are also appreciated by families. Furthermore there are experiences off the slopes, such as a toboggan ride on the traditional PistenBock or a walk on the Ahorn WinterHikingTrail which leads to the new Falconer's Haven, where the birds of prey of the Ahorn Eagle's Stage spend the winter. Fun and adrenaline, however, are provided on the Action Mountain Penken: Steep runs and highlights, including the Skimovie Track with free video download and the Harakiri Slope with a downhill gradient of 78 %, are part of it. The latter is only recommended for real experts.
Freestyle action is provided in the PenkenPark, one of Austria's best snow parks. The slopes of the Unterberg with the three speed tracks with time measurement - called Gold, Silver and Bronze - complete the offer. Together with the Hintertux Glacier, the Mayrhofen Skiing Area forms the Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000. It is also popular thanks to its ski huts, which include the igloo village White Lounge on the Ahorn high plateau. The Zillertal Super Ski Pass is valid in all skiing areas of the valley: Hochfügen, Spieljoch, Zillertal Arena, Hintertux Glacier and - of course - Mayrhofen.
