Sölden skiing area - Oetztal

The World Cup skiing area Sölden offers easy slopes on the Giggijoch and challenging slopes on Mt Gaislachkogl.

BIG3 - this skiing area in the Oetztal valley is the only Austrian skiing area that includes three different mountains of 3,000 m, which are the Gaislachkogl (3,058 m asl), the Tiefenbachkogl (3,250 m asl) and the Schwarze Schneide (3,340 m asl). This fact stands for triple skiing fun as well as triple panoramic view! The Tiefenbachkogl offers a fabulous view on Mt Wildspitze, while the Schwarze Schneide is the giant of the skiing mountains and offers a breath-taking panorama up to the Dolomites. The Gaislachkogl, however, is the smallest of the BIG3, but also offers a great panoramic view.

34 km of the 144 km of ski slopes are glacial skiing area on the Rettenbach e Tiefenbach glaciers, accessible in autumn and late spring by the highest panoramic road of the Eastern Alps and 8 lift facilities. This glacial skiing area is absolutely snow-sure from October to May! However, a total of 31 lift facilities brings you in the winter season on the slopes, new is the 10-seater Giggijoch monocable ropeway, the most powerful feeder mountain gondola worldwide. The longest slope (15 km) takes you from the BIG3 platform on Mt Schwarze Schneide to the Gaislachkoglbahn valley station, the steepest slope is the valley run n° 7 from the 6SK Stabele valley station to the Innerwald skiing area. Snowboarders will spend most of their holidays in the Area47 snow park on the Giggijoch, located at 2,450 m asl. New: in the winter season 2017/2018 all skipasses for 3+ days are valid also in the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl skiing area.

With the BIG3 Rallye, Sölden offers a ski route that takes you over all three mountains of 3,000 metres. If you do the ski route in one day, you overcome about 50 km of ski slopes and 10,000 metres of altitude. In the winter season 2017/2018 the completely rebuilt Rettenbach Glacier Restaurant with terrace, lounge and ice bar completes the offer of the 33 ski huts. Or are you a gourmet? The restaurant “Ice Q” on the Gaislachkogl, opened in 2013 on 3,048 m asl, was awarded one year after “Best mountain restaurant” by skiresort.info. Sequences of the film “Spectre”, starring Daniel Craig as James Bond, were shot up here.
