The Buchensteinwand, a mountain ridge and famous viewpoint in the Pillersee Valley, welcomes you in winter with a small skiing area, which is split on the villages of St. Ulrich am Pillersee, St. Jakob in Haus and Hochfilzen. 21 km of slopes for all levels of difficulty, gorgeous deep snow slopes and downhill runs reach until the peak of the 1,456 m high “Buach”, like the locals call their ridge. At the mountain station you enjoy a fantastic view on the High Tauern, Wilder Kaiser, Loferer and Leoganger mountain chains as well as on Mt. Waidringer Steinplatte.
The little guests can look forward to the Bobo Kids Park at the valley station of the chairlift. With its 30,000 sqm and plenty of attractions it is the biggest Bobo Kids Park throughout Tyrol! Very popular are also the permanent race track and of course the mountain huts and restaurants in the skiing area, which invite you to the famous Après Ski. New is the 29.60 m high Jakobskreuz with its view platforms, the biggest accessible summit cross worldwide (open also in winter).
The Buchensteinwand skiing area is connected with the big 3-Country Leisure Arena (formerly known as Schneewinkel), which combines 8 skiing areas in North Tyrol, Salzburg and Bavaria and offers 171 km of well-groomed slopes and 61 state-of-the-art lift facilities. The Snow Card Tyrol (more than 90 skiing areas in Tyrol), the Salzburg Super Ski Card (23 ski regions) and the SuperSkiCard (22 ski regions, 2,750 km of slopes) are are also valid in the skiing area.
