From the Dolomitenhütte to the Laserzsee lake

This easy mountain hike takes us to the beautiful Laserzsee lake in the Lienz Dolomites.

From Tristach near Lienz the Lienz Dolomites Road (toll from Kreithof) proceeds up until the parking space at the Fumo mountain (Rauchkofel in German, 1,600 m asl). There our hike starts. Within only 5 minutes we reach the Dolomitenhütte mountain hut which is located on a cliff at approx. 1,620 m asl and offers a gorgeous panoramic view.

The path starts as a flat gravel road and proceeds past the Instein Alm chapel where the steeper path branches off. We follow the markers to the Karlsbader Hütte mountain hut and carry on through the Laserztal valley up above the timber line. The Karlsbader Hütte mountain hut is already visible. After about two hours walking time our destination is reached. We make a side trip to the near located Laserzsee lake, a very special nature gem, and enjoy afterwards our rest at the Karlsbader Hütte mountain hut with a fantastic view. An alternative way back is the gravel road which is less steep and only slightly longer but more comfortable.
