Hike to the Pinnisalm mountain hut

Through the Pinnistal valley, surrounded by rugged rock faces, the mountain road leads up to the Pinnisalm mountain hut, secluded situated at 1,560 m a.s.l. in the Stubai Alps

This hike follows the alpine road through the Pinnistal valley and passes the huts of the Herzeben Almwirt and the Issenanger Alm. Starting from the village of Neder in the Stubai Valley, we follow the signpost "Pinnistal". The trail immediately leads steeply upwards through the shady gorge through which the Pinnisbach stream flows. Soon we reach the first hut at a junction, the Herzeben Almwirt tavern, and shortly afterwards the Issenanger tavern. Here the valley becomes flatter and the small meadow of the Issenanger Alm expands.

We continue our hike, always following path no. 123, into the valley towards Pinnisalm-Karalm. The wild valley, formed by the forces of nature, is characterised by forests and meadow clearings. Under the steep rock faces of the mountains, cones of limestone rubble are accumulated, overgrown by mountain pines. Past the natural monument "split stone" we reach the Pinni Mountain Hut (Pinnisalm) after a total of 2 hours. After lunch and a longer break we finally return to the valley on the same path. It is also possible to take the "Pinnis Shuttle" taxi to reach the mountain hut resp. to return to the starting point.
