Hike to the Scheidseen Lakes

Excursion from Galtür to the Verbella Alp above the Montafon: On easy paths we reach the Scheidseen Lakes near the Neue Heilbronner Hütte at the Verbellner Winterjöchli.

Starting point of our hike is the parking space at the Kops Reservoir above Galtür (1,830 m a.s.l.). First we walk downhill on the asphalt road to Partenen. The first junction to the right indicates already the path into the Verbellatal valley. We follow the gravel road to the Verbella Alp. It is located in the lower part of the valley at approx. 1,940 m a.s.l. and offers also a rest point. From here there are two routes up to the Heilbronner Mountain Hut at the Verbellner Winterjöchli ridge: either we continue on the gravel road or we take the shorter but steeper hiking trail.

Those who choose the gravel road can look forward to a more beautiful view on the surrounding mountains. The alpine meadow and heath landscape stretches up to the transition at more than 2,300 m a.s.l. A real eye-catcher is the Scheidseen Biotope, a natural gem at the transition from Vorarlberg to Tyrol. We enjoy our lunch at the Heilbronner Mountain Hut before we take the same route back again.
