Hike to the Innsbrucker Hütte mountain hut

From the Karalm in the Pinnistal valley we hike up to the Innsbrucker Hütte mountain hut and further on to Lake Alfair at almost 2,400 m a.s.l

To reach the starting point of this hike, we use the hiking taxi "Pinnis Shuttle", which takes us from Neustift in the Stubai Valley via the forest road to the Kar Mountain Hut (Karalm). On foot, this section would take about 2.5 hours. Here we go: The path no. 123 starts after crossing the valley floor on the south-eastern slope steeply uphill. It is a well-built hiking trail, from which we can soon enjoy the view on the 3,277 m high Habicht and the Pinnistal valley.

After 90 minutes walking time we cross the Pinnisjoch ridge and change to the side of the Gschnitztal valley. The Innsbruck Mountain Hut (Innsbrucker Hütte) at 2,370 m a.s.l. is only a few minutes from us. Despite some clouds, we have a good view on the opposite Tribulaun Group, as well as on the meadows of the Alfair Mountain Hut, which is situated a little lower. After a well-deserved break at the hut, we continue our hike: about 20 minutes more until we reach Lake Alfair (Alfairsee). This part of the trail is a bit tricky, as it leads through rocky terrain. We are rewarded with the beauty of the small mountain lake, in which the sky and the summits are reflected. The way back into the valley follows the same route.
