Hike to the Padasterjochhaus hut

A hiking trail leads from Trins in the Gschnitztal valley up to the Padasterjochhaus, surrounded by the peaks of the Serleskamm and with a beautiful view on the main Alpine ridge

This beautiful hut hike leads to a panoramic spot in the Stubai Alps, surrounded by high alpine meadows and limestone peaks. The tour with more than 900 m difference in altitude starts at the hiking car park near Trins and first follows the forest road towards west above the Gschnitztal valley. When you reach a meadow clearing, you can decide to cross it on a hiking trail and ascend via the partly steep forest path (Herrensteig) to the Padasterjoch Mountain Hut (Padasterjochhaus), or follow the easier but longer forest road. Both cross each other several times, so that you can switch between the paths.

On the north side of the valley dug by the Padasterbach brook, the paths lead out of the forest to a landscape of alpine meadows that almost reach up to the summit triangle of Hammerwandspitze, Wasenwand and Foppmandl. The Padasterjochhaus, the alpine hut of the Friends of Nature Vienna and destination of our hike, is located here at 2,232 m a.s.l. With a fantastic view on the Tux Alps in the east and the Tribulaune in the south, we enjoy a good time on the sunny terrace. Later on we take the same route to return to our starting point.
