Hike from Söll to the Witch’s Water Hochsöll

In the region of the Wilder Kaiser, on the way to the Hohe Salve mountain, the adventure park “Hexenwasser” awaits you.

Our starting point is the valley station of the Söll Cable Car which would take us up to the Witch’s Water Hochsöll within few minutes. But we decide to walk up. Immediately after the valley station the hiking path n° 9 starts, which we follow along a wide forest path. Past a rock chapel, we see the creek on our left, in these early hours still wafts of mist come up from it. After we have left the first part of the forest behind us, beautiful views on the farms at the opposite hills and on the little village of Söll are guaranteed. We take a short brake and enjoy the sunbeams.

The path proceeds past several farmyards and after about 1.5 hours of walking we reach an asphalted road. From here we see the mountain station of the Söll Cable Car and the “Witch’s Water Hochsöll” adventure park. We have a pleasant afternoon ahead of us. Among others we try the Kneipp basin and visit the huge witch’s cauldron where a little souvenir shop is accommodated. Then our son is impressed by the several water stations with a depth of only 30 cm, ideal for kids. Above the theme park also the longest barefoot path of Austria starts and proceeds across pebbles, through water and across several materials. By the way: the entrance to the Witch’s Water is free!

Next to the mountain station of the Söll Cable Car the cable car to Mt Hohe Salve starts, which takes you up straight to the top at 1,826 m asl. Amazing views on 70 three-thousand-metre summits and the first rotating panorama terrace of Austria, as well as 15 sundial stations, which explain the story of the time, can be enjoyed here. But particularly popular the peak of Mt Hohe Salve is because of its aeolian harp. It transforms wind into music and invites to take a short break from everyday life. But today we decide not to go up to the peak and start our way back down to the valley. The return of this hike is combinable with the “Hike from Hochsöll to the Big Waterfall”.

Please note: at the Witch’s Water Hochsöll there are different possibilities to carry on walking - a hiking path proceeds up to Mt Hohe Salve (approx. 2 hours), or a trip to Lake Filzalmsee (approx. 1 hour) or to the Silleralm mountain hut, which also offers food and drinks (approx. 1 hour).
