In the municipal area of Tristach in East Tyrol, a hike of about 2 hours starts, which proceeds first to the Dolomitenhütte, that's to say to the Lienz Dolomites Mountain Hut, and then further to Lake Laserz at 2,260 m a.s.l. This beautiful and well-known mountain lake often is mentioned together with the Karlsbad Mountain Hut, which is located at its lakeshore, on a rock plateau amidst sharp mountains, the Lienz Dolomites. The mountain hut is managed from mid-June until autumn.
The blue shimmering crystal clear lake can be rounded and you can cool down your feet in its water after the hike. From here there are many more hikes and mountain tours possible, such as the ascent to the Laserzwand rock face along the Laserz fixed-rope route.
A legend tells, that a water spirit lived in these waters before he was released. By the way: The lake is called Laserzsee, but sometimes also Grosser Laserzsee (Large Laserz Lake), due to the fact that there's another small pond between the mountain hut and the lake...
