In Fieberbrunn in the Pillersee valley, above the Pletzerbach stream at 859 m asl, there is a lake called Lauchsee, a real natural jewel. After some warm days only, its waters become warmer, making bathing in the lake possible. In the so-called Moorbad, a bathing facility, you can often enjoy a jump into the refreshing waters from May. The moor water shimmers brownish and a very special effect is attached to these waters: a bath is supposed to alleviate tensions, rheumatism and pain to the inter-vertebral disks.
The vast lawn for sunbathing offers a great view on the Buchensteinwand mountain and the Leoganger and Loferer Steinberge mountain chains. However, the Moorbad is also a family-friendly facility, as there is an own bathing area for kids, a children's playground and a restaurant offering various treats for the palate. In the lake, there are two little islands. Lawns and sun shades can be rent on site and nearby there are two tennis courts. A water trampoline, table tennis and a volley field complete the offer. Also hikers love to stop in this place. According to weather conditions, the lake is open from May to September.
On the south side of the lake, you can by the way also enjoy fishing. The fish stock includes superb exemplars of carps and zander, pikes, ales and doctor fish. The fishing licences are issued as day or night tickets, the day tickets are valid only out of season, or on days with bad weather and no visitors. The fishing season starts when the lake is ice-free and ends when it freezes.
