Fieberbrunn Pillersee
Fieberbrunn Pillersee

The market town of Fieberbrunn is the largest locality of the popular Pillersee valley.

Altitude: 780 m asl

The village of Fieberbrunn got its name in a very curious way: “Fieber” in German means fever, and according to a legend the princess of Margarete von Tirol, also called “Maultasch”, suffered from fever and was healed when she drank the water from the fountain that is located beneath the current church. This fountain, which means “Brunnen” in German, was then called “Fieberbrunnen”, while the locality itself, once called “Pramau”, was renamed Fieberbrunn…

The wonderful Pillersee valley and its lake with lido makes active holidays amidst water and mountains possible. Only in the valley there are 400 km of trails and cycling paths, inviting you to experience the landscape, especially the Kitzbühel Alps, in an active manner. The Fieberbrunn funicular takes you high up to the best starting points for treks and other tours such as the scenic fixed rope route Henne (2,078 m asl), the Blumenweg (Flower Path) as well as the Fieberbrunn High Altitude Path. You prefer playing golf? If so, there are eight gold courses within a distance of 25 km!

One of the main winter attractions is the snow paradise Fieberbrunn and its 43 km of ski slopes. Especially the illuminated half pipe is steadily gaining popularity, but there are even more possibilities, as the skiing area is connected to the ski resort Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang and Fieberbrunn. Moreover the area Fieberbrunn offers 35 km of cross-country ski tracks, an illuminated sledge track, an adventure pool with sauna village, the Bobo children’s club and much more, making your holidays a real adventure.

Our recommendation: from the Wildseeloder peak (2,117 m asl) you can enjoy a fabulous view on the Grossglockner, the Wilder Kaiser and the Loferer Steinberge mountains. In case of favourable weather conditions you can even see Italy or Germany. And in Lake Wildlodersee, which lies along the way, there are the legendary “black fish”.
