Jochberg

The holiday resort Jochberg is embedded in nature in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps.

Altitude: 924 m asl

Halfway between Kitzbühel and the Thurn pass (1,274 m asl), there is the village of Jochberg, located at the border to Salzburg. In summer, the farmers’ markets are particularly popular at Jochberg, this is where you can purchase fresh products directly from local farms! Another attraction is the tourist mine Kupferplatte, in fact in this area already 3,000 years ago copper has been quarried. The forest pool with the possibility to play volleyball and table-tennis and the mountains of the Kitzbühel Alps complete the varied offer.

For those who love culture, there is the S. Michael church, which is the oldest church of the holiday resort Jochberg. Moreover you can admire a pilgrimage church, constructed 1750 - 1752 AD and painted by Simon Faistenberger. Worth seeing is also the S. Wolfgang fountain beneath, which was frequented by numerous pilgrims who wished for having a disease healed. These facts are documented in the so-called “Mirakelbuch” (miracle book) dating back to the year 1505 AD. Pilgrimages to this site came to an end, but still today you can touch the healing water in the S. Wolfgang chapel in the parish church.

In winter Jochberg connects the Jochberg skiing area with the skiing area Resterhöhe, located in the west of the Thurn pass, forming one single ski carousel: the Kitzbühel - Kirchberg skiing area offers 215 km of well-groomed slopes and 54 lift factilies. Particularly popular are the torchlight walks across the snow-covered landscape as well as horse-drawn sleigh rides. By the way: Jochberg is seat of the Grander company and its philosophy and technologies for “vitalized” water.

Our recommendation: visit the Sintersbach waterfall when snow is melting, a fabulous experience! Start at the parking space Schrandler at Jochberg and within a one hour walk on the Triebweg trail you reach the impressive waterfall.
