Along the Schmankerlweg path

Easy walk on a wide path through the forest below the 2,000 m limit: The trail proceeds across meadows and mountain pastures beneath the Kreuzjoch and Karspitze peaks high above the Zillertal valley

A "Schmankerl" (delicacy, treat) awaits everyone at the end of this 4 km long path from the mountain station of the Rosenalm II Cable Car to the Kreuzwiesen Mountain Hut (Kreuzwiesenalm). The trail is dedicated to the delicacies of the Zillertal valley, which are also offered at the hut. For this reason it bears the name "Schmankerlweg" (Delicacies' Path). Our starting point is the Rosenalm Alp, accessible by the cable car starting from Rohr near Zell am Ziller. First we follow the path no. 10 (panorama tour) towards northeast, and after a bend in the forest we continue our hike on the path no. 11 towards south.

Sometimes the names can be confusing, such as "Kreuzwiesenalm", "Kreuzjochhütte" and "Kreuzjochalm" - so you need to be careful to follow the signposts to the Kreuzwiesenalm. The wide path leads slightly uphill and takes us directly to the Kreuzwiesen Mountain Hut. Now it's time to enjoy the beautiful panoramic view and - of course - typical delicacies. For kids there's something very special at the beginning of the trail at the Rosenalm Alp: the Spruce Tree Castle, an adventure playground with a wooden castle with walkable towers.
