Rohrberg

The holiday resort of Rohrberg extends at the bottom of the Zillertal valley and at the slopes of the sunny Rohrberg

Altitude: 675 m a.s.l.

Several hamlets and the scattered settlements at the west slope of Mt. Karspitze make up the municipality of Rohrberg: Scaling the 2,263 m high Karspitze, you will be awarded with a stunning view on the Zillertal Alps and the Tux Alps. At the foot of the Rohrberg mountain, however, there is the generating plant Gerlos. In former times, people tried to pan for gold in the municipal area as well as in other places of the valley, but without hardly any success.

One of the interesting buildings of Rohrberg is the former administrative centre of the mine, the "Gallerhaus", which was purchased in the 19th century by the Kammersänger Felix Kraus from Munich and transformed into a villa. Still today, the Kraus Promenade reminds on this famous artist. Along the shady path across the forest, within approximately one hour, you reach the Gerlos Road, and via the Gerlosberg Bridge the hike leads back to Rohrberg.

The Rosenalm Cable Car between Zell am Ziller and Rohrberg leads to the Rosenalm alp. Up there you can enjoy the hike along the Delicacies' Path across meadows and mountain pastures to the Kreuzwiesen Mountain Hut, or - with kids - relax in the area with the Spruce Tree Castle and the eponymous lake. At the valley station, another highlight awaits you: the Arena Coaster Zillertal, an all-year round toboggan run. In winter, high above Rohrberg there's the Zillertal Arena Ski Region, featuring stunning slopes as well as several cross-country ski trails and four toboggan runs.
