Circular hike on the Aschau High Route

This easy walking tour above the Spertental valley near Aschau leads alternately through forests and past alpine meadows.

At Hinteraschau we cross the Obere-Grund-Ache river and follow the forest road “Oberer Grund”. It leads along the west bank of the river through the valley. After about 45 minutes we reach the bridge at the Klooalm mountain hut. The Klooalm mountain hut is the only rest stop on the way and is popular with hikers and mountain bikers alike.

Always with a constant, gentle gradient, the path continues into the valley through the Oberer Grund. At the Ragstattalm we reach a crossroads. We follow the signpost “Aschauer Höhenweg”, which leads on the east side of the valley towards north. We have reached an altitude of about 1,300 m, where the high route runs with only slight up and down. So we walk comfortably on a wide path along the wooded slope.

At the Klammalm the view opens on the surroundings and a little later we reach the Seewaldalm, where we take the path towards the valley. A series of serpentines across the meadow landscape takes us down into the valley in about 45 minutes, directly to the starting point at Aschau.
