At Hainzenberg at the entrance of the Gerlostal valley you can re-experience 350 years of mining industry: The conditions of work, the miners' life and their tools are shown and explained in the Zillertal Gold Show Mine (Goldschaubergwerk Zillertal).
The adventure starts at the Hochzeller Käsealm with wildlife park, an alpine dairy located about 3 km above Zell am Ziller. Starting from the alpine pasture, you first get into the world of gold mining. After having also visited the gold panning camp you get back in an adventurous way on a small train, the "Zillertaler Goldexpress".
The two-hour excursion also includes the visit of the Hochzeller alpine dairy, a 150-year-old mountain hut that has been reconstructed true to the original. Products such as cheese, speck and schnapps are produced according to traditional recipes and sold at the diary.
