An eight-hectare large area in Maurach am Achensee is the place of a culture museum since 2002. Former it was a youth hostel, then the “Museum and Culture Association Traktoreum” created an exhibition area for the restored antique tractors of the “Traktorclub Maurach”. Finally the area became a little museum village.
Eight buildings house the exhibitions. In the first one, numerous antique tractors can be admired, the second one is the house of the dolls with Grandma Anni’s Puppet Workshop (Oma Anni’s Puppenwerkstatt, in German). Anna Pramsoler - the name giver - manufactured 500 dolls within 25 years. The “Community Hall” shows the development of the Achensee region, there also a gem grotto can be admired. Furthermore the original steam locomotive “Eben am Achensee” can be seen in the fourth building, and the “Police Museum” with the reproduction of an old police station is shown in the fifth one.
The antique “Tischlerei Wurm” (joinery) and a 90 years old locksmith’s shop, the stern of the 120 years old Achensee steamboat “MS Stadt Innsbruck” and a local museum with a fire brigade exhibition can be found in the other buildings. The exhibition area is topped off with the Children’s Magic World with little houses and trains. Quite popular are also the events which take place in the area, like the “Nachterlebnis” in autumn and “Christmas in the Museum” in December. A world of experiences for the whole family!
