In the heart of the historic and listed village centre of Obertilliach, in the beautiful Lesachtal valley, an old barn is located. This “Lugger Stadl” was transformed into a very special museum in 2006, the Obertilliach Coach and Local Museum which gives an insight into various eras. In 2016, it celebrated its ten year anniversary. The museum offers an interesting insight into the ancient rural history of the village and its surrounding and tells about the hard living conditions of that time. The exhibits contain a harness, back baskets in which hay was carried, a wooden axle for hay carts and sickles to cut grass.
Moreover the Coaches and Local Museum houses an impressive collection of coaches and sledges. Rural vehicles, bridal carriages and funeral coaches can be admired. In former times, wood often was transported with help of horse and cart, a quite dangerous method. Here bygone times come to life again!
