The building of "aut. architektur und tirol" - the former Architecture Forum Tyrol - is of utmost historical importance, as it is one of the few preserved buildings by the Tyrolean architect Lois Welzenbacher. In 1926/27 the famous architect planned this mashhouse of the "Adambräu".
Despite of the new orientation of the building, the original form and function have been preserved. What is basically different, however, is the current usage of the former economical building. The architects Köberl, Wucherer, Giner and Pfeifer have changed the building and today it offers space for architectural exhibitions, presentations, discussions, lectures and much more. The programme is varied and includes interesting workshops for adults and children.
The "aut:lounge" is a central communication area, providing a comprehensive number of journals and publications for reading and deepening your knowledge. The "tiroler baudatenbank" is a Tyrolean database of selected Tyrolean buildings and part of the famous internet platform "nextroom". However, the "mediathek:architektur stadt design" offers a selection of interesting examples of all movie genres focusing on architecture, city and design. The curator of this facility is Helmut Weihsmann, an architecture and film historian of Vienna.
