Between the Lechtal and Ammergau Alps and the Wetterstein mountain chain, there is Lermoos, located at the edge of a former marshland. As one of the oldest villages in the Ausserfern area it has already been mentioned in 1020 AD. In the course of time it has become a popular holiday destination.
Lermoos is located in the heart of a popular hiking and mountain bike paradise. Along numerous hiking trails you can explore the world of mountains of the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena. Moreover there are trails for mountain bikers and freeride tours from the mountain to the valley! No wonder that this region already in 2005 and 2006 has been declared to be “the best mountain bike area of Austria”. However, also an outdoor and indoor pool and a 9-hole golf course are available to make your holidays even more varied. By the way, Lermoos is child oriented and has got much to offer for your kids: pirate days, climbing days and various programmes for children are organised. In other words, relaxation for parents!
On the local mountain, the Grubigstein, you can enjoy skiing on 27 km slopes, but the ski fun has no end on this mountain, as this area is connected to the ski region Tiroler Zugspitz Arena (142 km of slopes). The so-called “Platt”, a glacier skiing area, can be reached from Ehrwald and offers great skiing conditions on 3,000 m asl nearly the whole year round. If you whish for even more variety, you can try “ski-fox”, a mixture of skiing and sledding which is easy to learn and a very funny activity.
Our recommendation: the “Z-ticket” is an active card that is valid for seven days. That’s how you can enjoy the Tiroler Zugspitz Arena for best conditions! This card is available directly at the lift facilites.
