Schwendt

Schwendt is one of the four localities that merged into one holiday area, which is Kaiserwinkl.

Altitude: 702 m asl

Schwendt and its nearly 1,000 inhabitants is located far away from hustle and bustle of everyday life on the spur of the Kaiser mountain chain. The German name of the village derives from “schwenden” (clearing) and that’s also what the emblem of the village proves, showing black axes on red ground.

One of the most popular destinations in summer is Lake Walchsee and its bathing beaches as well as the possibility to surf and sail. However, also those who love other activities will feal at ease, thanks not last to the three golf courses, a golf school, indoor and outdoor tennis courts as well as a riding hall. Those who aim even higher can observe the area from a bird’s eye perspective, trying tandem hang-gliding with the hang-gliding and paragliding school of Kössen. And finally the Kaiser mountain chain, on the spur of which Schwendt is located, offers a vast network of hiking trails and cycling paths, which makes you experience the mountains of Tyrol…

In winter Lake Walchsee transforms into a huge ice skating paradise, also offering a walking trail and cross-country ski trail that surround the lake. In case you prefer skiing and snowboarding, we recommend you to visit the small but mighty skiing areas Hochkössen (22 km of ski slopes) and Zahmer Kaiser (13.5 km of ski slopes), or the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental, offering 280 km of ski slopes.

Our recommendation: the cross-country ski trail to Kössen and Walchsee takes you past the edge of Schwendt. The Kaiserwinkl cross-country ski tracks have been awarded with the “Tiroler Langlauf Loipen Gütesiegel” quality seal!
