Winter hike through the Gschnitztal valley

From Trins to Gschnitz the winter hiking path comfortably runs through the valley, often parallel to the cross country ski track of the Gschnitztal valley

The winter hiking path through the Gschnitztal valley starts at Trins south of the "Märchenwald", the Magic Forest. There is a car park (chargeable) at the Liftstüberl tavern at the village lift where our hike begins. On the banks of the Gschnitzbach stream, the path runs into the valley, flat to slightly ascending, through the snow-covered meadow landscape. The path crosses the cross country ski track several times, which also runs through the valley. After about 3 km we pass the Pumafalle inn, the only stop for refreshments between the starting point and the finish.

The following stage runs through the Geigerwald forest. Past the Erhatlerhof farm, the route continues on the Gschnitzbach-Uferweg path to Gschnitz. The village is the end point of the winter hiking trail. In the village, e.g. at the Alpenrose inn, you can stop for lunch. A visit to the baroque parish church "Unsere Liebe Frau im Schnee" is recommended. For our way back we take the same path. Unlike in the morning, larger sections are then illuminated by the sun. Alternatively you can also take the bus back to Trins.
