Winter hiking path and sledge run Wettersteinhütte

An approx. 4 km long route connects the Gaistal valley near Leutasch with the Wetterstein Mountain Hut

The Wetterstein Mountains are known above all for its highest elevation, the Zugspitze. But also the southern flank near Scharnitz and Leutasch offers wonderful landscapes. Our winter hike along the toboggan run to the Wetterstein Mountain Hut, for example, offers a magnificent view from the Karwendel to the main Alpine ridge. Starting point of our winter hike is the Gaistal valley near Leutasch, more precisely the chargeable Stupfer parking space at the Leutascher Ache river, where we follow the path no. 24 towards the Wetterstein Mountain Hut.

After a first, slightly steep ascent, this forest path, which is also a toboggan run, leads into path no. 9, which we follow now. A few curves higher we reach the bridge over the Klammbach brook and finally, after a last short steep ascent, we arrive at the Wetterstein Mountain Hut. Here, on the sunny side of the Wetterstein Mountains, we enjoy the beautiful winter weather and Tyrolean delicacies. The descent by sledge can be done on the same way or on a bit faster track.
