The Glacier Education Path (Gletscherlehrweg Innergschlöss) in the High Tauern National Park starts at the Venedigerhaus, a mountain inn in Innergschlöss in East Tyrol. The place is considered one of the most beautiful valley heads in the Alps. From there, the trail leads past observation points, across the Venediger Group with its glaciers, which have shaped this natural landscape.
Nature here is particularly impressive and rich in biodiversity: You can observe the flora and fauna with their inhabitants, such as the bearded vulture, up close. A highlight along the trail is the deep blue Salzboden Lake at an altitude of 2,137 metres, next to which lies another small mountain lake covered in cottongrass: the "Eye of God". The destination of the trail is also impressive.
You reach the glacier forefield of the Schlatenkees Glacier, where you can feel the raw power of nature. Other interesting stops on this alpine day tour are the rock chapel and the alpine village of Innergschlöss. In summer, guided tours with National Park rangers are offered.
