Near Leutasch in the Olympic Region Seefeld, you can visit a very impressive canyon. What is so particular about this 75 metres deep Leutasch Spirit Gorge (Leutascher Geisterklamm) is its modern steel footbridge, as usually wooden footpaths and bridges are installed. In summer, it leads you the way high above the Leutascher Ache river and along the majestic rock faces.
The parking space and the gate to the legendary Spirit Gorge are located in the district of Schanz, close to the German border. This is also where the walk across the world of ghosts starts. It's an eerie place and a world of water and stone: In the Leutasch Spirit Gorge a ghost is up to mischief - here it lives together with gorge goblins and water dwarfs.
Three paths lead through this natural monument. The Spirit Gorge Trail (Klammgeistweg) - 3 km long - includes an 800 m long walkway. The 1.9 km long Goblin Trail (Koboldpfad), however, tells on information panels about the stones and rocks in the gorge, and about the glaciers which formed it during the last Ice Age. The third path, the 200 m long Waterfall Trail (Wasserfallsteig, admission fee), ends at the 23 m high waterfall at the end of the Leutasch Spirit Gorge.
