Arzler Pitze Gorge

The Luis Trenker Path and an educational trail stretch across the impressive gorge in the Pitztal valley

From Arzl im Pitztal to the Inn Gorge, the Luis Trenker Path stretches its way across the wild romantic Arzler Pitze Gorge. The 1.5 km long trail was dedicated to Luis Trenker (1892-1990), as his father came from Arzl, and therefore the South Tyrolean alpinist often used to visit the valley.

The round trail starts at Arzl at the road bridge over the Pitze river, where the Luis Trenker Monument is located. Along the Luis Trenker Path, an interesting Tree Educational Trail has been established by the Kaunergrat Nature Park, including several information panels. Particularly popular are guided walks, as the local guides know much about the peculiarities, and the varied flora and fauna of the "Arzler Pitzeklamm" natural forest reserve. Down into the deep gorge, the wild water of the Pitze river breaks its way through the rocks, fed by the surrounding glaciers.

Many resting places and possibilities to play make the Arzler Pitze Gorge (Arzler Pitzeklamm) also interesting for kids. The trail takes continuously towards the locality of Wald. Across the Benni Raich Bridge, the highest pedestrian suspension bridge of Austria, you reach your starting point Arzl im Pitztal. Walking time: about 2.5 hours.
