Sautens

The Forchet Geo Trail is located in the protected area Sautner Forchet, a natural oasis in the densely populated Inn Valley

Altitude: 812 m a.s.l.

The village of Sautens represents the gate to the beautiful Oetztal valley. It is made up of several component localities and - thanks to its mild climate - it is well-suited to fruit-growing. Parts of the fruits are processed in the local distilleries to produce a schnapps called "Obstler".

Two special destinations in the village are the Magic Forest Sautens and the Outdoor Course Oetztal, a combination of high-rope course and forest course. Interestingly, the outdoor course with the slackline is located in Sautens, whereas the forest rope course can be found on the other side of the river, in the municipal area of Oetz. The second destination is the Magic Forest with its 11 stations with information about the forest animals, a real paradise for kids.

If you are interested in culture, you shouldn't miss the Old Parish Church from 1517 AD, and the New Parish Church dating back to 1831 and built in late Classicism construction style. The latter is one of the most beautiful village churches all over Tyrol. In summer, Lake Piburg and the leisure time centre of Sautens await you, offering two heated pools and a pool for children. In winter, however, you can benefit from the connection between the Kühtai and the Hochoetz Skiing Areas, or choose between further eight skiing areas which you can reach within half-an-hour car drive.
