Mieming is situated in an idyllic position on the Mieming Plateau - its 12 component localities extend to the Gaistal valley. Not only thanks to its farms that have often been decorated with gable ornaments or the so-called "Lüftlmalerei", kind of illusionary painting, as well as its moss and larch meadows, Mieming is an attractive holiday resort which has dedicated itself to soft tourism.
And not for nothing the Mieming Plateau with the four villages Mieming, Wildermieming, Obsteig and Nassereith has been detected by film industry. The German TV serial "The Mountain Doctor" as well as some episodes of the German detective series "Tatort" were shot in this area. The name Mieming is to be found in many outdoor activities, from the 26 km long Mieming Cycle Route to the 27-hole Golfpark Mieminger Plateau and the hiking paths in the Mieming Range.
Also the bathing lake in Mieming with its "Leuchtturm" (lighthouse) is a popular destination in summer, before the snow turns the high plateau into a landscape full of winter hiking trails and cross-country ski tracks. Lake Mieming turns into an ice skating ground in winter. Furthermore, the offer includes a riding stable and a skateboard park in Untermieming, as well as the Holzeisbichl toboggan hill and the natural toboggan run of the Stöttl Mountain Hut.
