Only a stone's throw from Telfes im Stubai, you can get an impressive insight into the world of birds of prey. It's been more than 40 years now that the founder and owner of the park, Mathias Premm, has been dealing with predator birds now, and for about 20 years the "Greifvogelpark Telfes" has been considered the shelter for injured or sick birds of prey. About 80% of costs are financed by the entry fees, the rest is sponsored. If possible, the birds are released after re-convalescence, it this is not possible, they find a caring and species-appropriate home here.
This is where northern eagle owls, peregrine, eagles, snow owls and many more birds can be observed. There are also daily flight demonstrations at 3 pm when the birds show their flying skills. A tour in the Birds of Prey Park provides many interesting information on the way of living of predator birds. Except the American eagle Satara, all predator birds are European bird species.
What is included in a visit is the great view on the Stubaital valley, which you can enjoy from the park. A recommendable excursion destination for a family getaway. And how to get to the park (Greifvogelpark Telfes)? From the village of Telfes, you can reach it in a 15-minutes' walk, from the stop of the Stubaitalbahn at Luimes in a 10-minutes' walk or in 2 minutes only from the visitors' parking space. Please note that dogs are not allowed in order to guarantee the birds' safety.
