The municipality Radfeld, located in idyllic position along the Inn river, directly borders on Rattenberg.
Altitude: 512 m asl
In 788 AD Radfeld has been mentioned for the first time as “Ratefelden”, in 790 AD as “Ratfeld”, which means “field of Rato”. Moreover the name of the village reveals that German settlers came upon fertile fields in this area. In 1925 the first guest-house was inaugurated in the village, as before agriculture represented the main revenue stream. Radfeld directly borders on Rattenberg, which is the smallest city of Austria, known as “glass town of Tyrol” also beyond borders.
Radfeld is particularly popular with those who seek relaxation, as it offers numerous trails in the surroundings, perfect for hiking and promenading. Moreover in summer the local music band gives open-air concerts. Cyclists and skaters benefit from the access of the Inn cycle path, snaking along the Inn river. With a length of 517 km, it is one of the longest cycling tracks of Europe. Those who seek the adventure, however, can try kayaking and rafting, undoubtedly a rememberable experience!
In winter the Ski Jewel Alpbachtal Wildschönau provides 109 km of ski slopes as well as a halfpipe for snowboarders and cross-country ski trails. By the way: the “Alpbachtal Card” is also valid in Radfeld, so you can benefit from numerous free services and special concessions.
Our recommendation: at Radfeld there is the one and only skydiving base of Tyrol, so if you would like to jump from a plane with a chute, this is absolutely the right place for you. Exiting!
