Held each summer, Karwendel March is an epic day on scenic trails that wind through the heart of glorious Karwendel Mountain Range, from Scharnitz to Pertisau on the shores of Achensee Lake.

Since its first edition in the year 2009, 2,500 long-distance walkers, hikers, Nordic walkers, and runners from across the country have converged in Scharnitz each summer for this long distance walk along scenic routes. In its 16th year in 2025, the acclaimed event starts early in the morning at 6:00am in Scharnitz and the 35K and 52K courses display all the beautiful angles Karwendel Range has to offer. The walk’s finish is in Pertisau on the shores of Achensee Lake. Yearn for the beauty of the backcountry and take the first step into a healthier lifestyle with Karwendel March! En route, you will pass ten aid stations where regional culinary delights and refreshments are on offer.
