Kunstraum Innsbruck is showing "Healing Technologies And Affections/Tọju Ati Awọn Imọ-Ẹrọ Iwosan" by Ayrson Heráclito from 27 July to 4 Noember 2023.
Afro-diasporic methods of healing and other legacies of different cultures serve artist Ayrson Heráclito to find a decolonial path. Under the title "Healing Technologies and Affections", he developed an exhibition that not only serves aesthetic aspects, but also makes visible historical and technological processes related to healing and well-being. It is as much about the individual as it is about an entire nation: through the African diaspora, the influence is felt in many parts of the world and is to be "acknowledged and celebrated".
Ayrson Heráclito is an Ogã of Jeje Mahi in Salvador, professor at the UFRB in the city of Cachoeira/Bahia, visual artist and curator. He holds a PhD in Communication and Semiotics from PUC São Paulo and a Masters in Fine Arts from UFBA. His installations, performances, photographs and audiovisual works deal with elements of Afro-Brazilian culture and its connections between Africa and its diaspora in South America.
