Ski Zillertal 3000 - Hintertux Glacier
This ski region includes five skiing areas: the year-round skiing area Hintertux Glacier and the skiing areas Eggalm, Rastkogel, Penken Finkenberg and Penken Mayrhofen.
Ski Zillertal 3000 offers 227 km of ski slopes and 59 modern state-of-the art facilities. One of the highlights is the “150 Tux”, one of the largest aerial tramways of Austria, connecting Penken/Mayrhofen and Rastkogel/Tux. Adrenaline junkies can risk skiing on the “Harakiri” slope, the steepest slope of Austria. This ski run is characterized by a downhill gradient of 78% and a length of 1 km, and it is steeper than an approach of a ski jump! Are you a speed-skier? Then you can try skiing on the race tracks Penken, Sunjet or Unterberg.
However, those who do not want to break out in a cold sweat can enjoy various pleasant ski routes, offering a great panoramic view on the surroundings: the “XXL” route offers red slopes and the “Penken” route takes you across simple, blue slopes. Slightly more challenging is the so called “Höhenmeterfresser” route, in which you overcome about 13,000 metres of altitude. This ski route includes red and black ski slopes. And really hard is the “Fun+Action” route, which also includes the feared “Harakiri” slope. But the absolute highlight is the Hintertux Glacier, the only year-round skiing area of Tyrol, offering slopes as far as the eyes can see. Enjoy the fabulous panoramic view from the Dolomites to the Zugspitze mountain.
