Imster Bergbahnen Skiing Area

The Imster Bergbahnen lift facilities take you up to the gently curved slopes on the 2,100 m high Alpbachjoch ridge

Thanks to its dimensions, the skiing area above Imst is a popular destination for families and beginners. The 10-seater gondolas start in Hoch-Imst above the town and take you comfortaby and barrier-free up to the Alpjoch mountain station at 2,100 m a.s.l. There, the SunOrama viewing platform and the 9 km of slopes and 2 km of ski routes offer fun for any level of difficulty. The most difficult one is the steep "Pratz Bäume" downhill run which features a gradient of 60 %. The history of the Imster Bergbahnen Skiing Area, by the way, goes back more than half a century.

The little guests can discover skiing on the beginners slope next to the valley station. They are accompanied by the skilled instructors of the Snow School Imst, funny figures and the mascots Albin and Bobo. Slightly higher, at the Malbach Lift near the intermediate station, however, there's the Fun Park Hoch-Imst with its Beginner Line and Family Line. The Untermarkter Alm (UAlm) and the Latschenhütte huts invite you afterwards to a stop on their sun terraces. At the UAlm starts a special adventure: the Alpine Coaster Imst, a toboggan run on rails with speeds up to 40 km ph.

The skiing area is also popular due to its night operation: Twice a week, the fun for skiers and snowboarders on the floodlit valley run lasts until late in the evening. Even three times a week you can enjoy the two illuminated toboggan runs, called Obermarkter Alm and Untermarkter Alm. A wonderful place for skitourers and snow shoe hikers, however, is the Ursprungweg Hoch-Imst, one of the most beautiful snow shoe trails of the region. It runs parallel to the ski slope.
