Description

It is a remarkable sight when 555 skiers, snowboarders, and telemark skiers plunge almost simultaneously from the 2,645-metre-high Valluga ridge down the unprepared slope. The mass start of the legendary 'Der Weiße Rausch' (The White Thrill) race is one of the most unusual in the world. Athletes from across the globe sign up for the competition. While anyone can technically enter, the course is only suitable for those with significant experience and stamina.

The route to the finish in St. Anton is nine kilometres long, with a descent of 1,350 vertical metres. A major challenge is the 'Schmerzberg' (Mountain of Pain), a 150-metre intermediate climb that requires careful pacing.

The race starts at 5 pm, with the winners' ceremony taking place two hours later, followed by the 'Weiße-Rausch-Party'. The event also marks the end of the season in Arlberg. The lifts close in the afternoon. For children and teenagers, there is the 'Weiße Rausch Mini'.
