Hochstein - Lienz Dolomites

The Hochstein, the local mountain of Lienz, offers great ski slopes for skilled winter sport fans.

The Lienzer Bergbahnen do not only transport in you into the Zettersfeld skiing area, but also to the Hochstein skiing region, which also towers above the basin of Lienz. This skiing area offers perfect conditions for skilled skiers and snowboarders, as most of the slopes are quite challenging.

The slopes are accessible via two double-seated chair lifts and two ski lifts. All slopes snake along the mountain below the timber line and for this reason you can also enjoy skiing in case of bad weather due to good visibility conditions. Every two years this ski mountain is also venue for a women’s world cup race in alpine skiing (slalom and giant slalom). The slopes of the local mountain of Lienz are perfect for practicing all disciplines - downhill, slalom, giant slalom and super G - and for this reason many national ski teams come to the Hochstein in the course of the winter season. Moreover this mountain offers a toboggan run. To ascent you can even use the chair lift Hochsteinbahn. Twice a week the toboggan run is also illuminated at night.
