Sölden - Oetztal skiing area

The World Cup skiing area Sölden offers easy slopes for beginners on the Giggijoch as well as challenging slopes on the Gaislachkogl mountain.

BIG 3 - this skiing area in the Oetztal valley is the only one that inculdes three different mountains of 3,000 m, which are the Gaislachkogl (3,058 m asl), the Tiefenbachkogl (3,250 m asl) and the Schwarze Schneid (3,340 m asl). This fact stands for triple skiing fun as well as triple panoramic view! The Tiefenbachkogl offers a fabulous view on the Wildspitze mountain, while the Schwarze Schneid is the giant of the skiing mountains and offers a breath-taking panorama up to the Dolomites. The Gaislachkogl, however, is the smallest of the BIG 3, but also offers a great panoramic view. The skiing area Sölden every year is venue for a women’s and men’s World Cup race in Alpine skiing, but not only for this reason it is world famous.

The 146 km of ski slopes are made up of 111 km of winter skiing area, 33 km of glacial skiing area and 2 km of ski routes. 33 lift facilities bring you on the slopes, and since the winter season 2014/2015 the new 6-seater chair lift Wasserkar on the Gaislachkogl is in operation. Snowboarders will spend most of their holidays in the SWATCH snowpark on the Giggijoch. This boarder’s paradise is located at 2,450 m asl right beneath the chair lifts Hainbachkar and Silberbrünnl. Beside snow elements and jibs there is also the SWATCH SHOOT MY RIDE installation, where your jump is shot and displayed on a video screen. This skiing area is absolutely snow-sure from October to May, thanks to the glaciers!

With the BIG 3 Rallye, Sölden offers a ski route that takes you over all three mountains of 3,000 metres. If you do the ski route in one day, you overcome about 50 km of ski slopes and 10,000 metres of altitude. Are you a gourmet? The restaurant “Ice Q” on the Gaislachkogl, opened in 2013, was awarded “Best mountain restaurant 2014″ by skiresort.de…
