Lake Trams

Lake Trams above Zams and Landeck is a popular lake for bathing.

If you proceed from Landeck towards its castle, at the cross-road before a road leads to the “Trams”. On this highland above Zams and Landeck, beside a hotel with parking space you can also find a little lake, called pond of Trams. It is an old, artificial water reservoir, which was installed for the irrigation of fields. Today it is merely a recreation area and a lake for bathing, offering a beautiful lawn and an adventure playground. The entrance is by the way free.

Also is the pond a popular hiking destination: from Landeck a footpath takes to the lake in 30 minutes, providing a great panoramic view on the valley basin. From Zams you can reach the pond via the so-called “Tramsweg” trail in a walk of about 40 minutes, or you take the so-called “Hammerlweg” trail from Anreit/Zammerberg. Those who love sports appreciate the lake and surroundings, ideal for running, Nordic Walking and further hiking.

Representing habitat for rare animal and plant species, Lake Trams is worth to be protected. Animals that live in this place are the crayfish, the swan mussel and various dragonflies. In the water, there are numerous fish including carps, tench, pikes, basses and pikeperches.
