In the main village of the anterior Zillertal valley, the Local Museum Fügen tells about the song “Silent Night, Holy Night”

Fügen with its five component localities is located along the Zillertal Road, in the anterior part of the valley. Already in Bronze Age the area was settled, a fact that is documented by urn tombs that were found here. In the 15th century, Fügen gained importance as industrial centre of the Zillertal valley, as cannonballs and plate for armour were produced. Today, it is seat of one of Europe's largest sawmill enterprises, which is Binder Holz with its FeuerWerk Wood Adventure World.
In the village rises Fügen Castle, today a well-known event centre. And there is another interesting building: the Widumspfiste. The small facility houses the Local Museum Fügen and tells about the song "Silent Night, Holy Night". The organ builder Karl Mauracher brought it from Oberndorf in Salzburg to Fügen, and from here it stared spreading on thanks to the "Zillertaler Nationalsänger".
After a hike in the surrounding mountain world or a cycle tour along the Zillertal Cycle Route, the Adventure Thermal Bath Zillertal invites you to relax. It is open all-year round, in summer there's also an outdoor pool. With its 133 m long "Black hole" water slide and several adventure basins, it represents a popular destination for families. In winter, two skiing areas are available: The Hochfügen Ski Region extends above the hotel village of Hochfügen. The Spieljochbahn Skiing Area is accessible directly from the village of Fügen and includes the longest downhill run of the valley.
